A long time ago, a youth pastor in his twenties, taught how to think of sin beyond deliberate disobedience. Referencing the passage "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" two things: One, God's plan for humanity is glorious, not drudgery, and two, like a bowman shooting an arrow which falls short of the target, we all have fallen short of attaining that glory. Aside from that Jonathan and David were soldiers. There is a brotherhood among brothers in arms that few can fathom . There is a bond of love, but it hardly sexual. Greeks had several words for the English word "love," and a web search for the Greek words in the Bible are many.
