First, the physical aspect: Please read https://my.clevelandclinic.org/.../24228-loss-of-appetite.

Plus the spiritual aspect: Over the centuries, many Bible words have become religious icons rather than meaningful ideas. “Blessed,” for example, even has a strange pronunciation (“bless — ed”), illustrating my point of ideas becoming religious icons. Here’s the definition of the Biblical Greek word:

Strong’s Concordance — makarios: blessed, happy

Original Word: μακάριος,

Part of Speech: Adjective

Transliteration: makarios

Phonetic Spelling: (mak-ar’-ee-os)

Definition: blessed, happy

Usage: happy, blessed, to be envied.

Here’s an example of its use in the Bible: “Blessed are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, for they will be filled.” — Berean Literal Bible, Matthew 5:6.

There have been times when people from various times and diverse cultures have felt like they were starved of righteousness and decided to search it out and live it out — maybe the 60’s in this country…

Unfortunately, today, even starving to death for it, too many people haven’t figured out that they are dying for lack of hunger. They are just not hungry anymore.

In that aspect, Society has developed a mindset similar to anorexia nervosa.
