Unfortunately, history shows that there are only two results that have occurred in that pursuit:

Synods meeting soon after the "apostolic age," attempting to unify established doctrinal differences of the various and divergent denominations, existing at the time, ending in utter failure.

That begs the question, "Is doctrine important, or doesn't it matter what you believe as long as you believe?"
