About Pope Leo XIV’s Message
October 11, 2025.
The Roman Catholic Pope Leon gave direction for his congregants, but I should think the mindset for all Christians, and I should think, for all people on this planet. His message was grand, and beautiful, and a word desperately needed in today’s world.
I’d like to know, where are all the voices of the American Christians, their leaders and the congregants?!?
His message was like the Biblical exhortation Jesus gave:
Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’ — Matthew 25:34–36, BSB.
So, I think he is holding up the ideal of loving your neighbor as yourself which raises the question, “Are we acting in one accord in our actions?”
In addition, the Law given to the Israelites by Moses, written previously in the Old Testament is in agreement:
You must treat the foreigner living among you as native-born and love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God. — Leviticus 19:34, BSB.
Reading that, are we acting in one accord in our actions?
I hope a person does not have to be a professing Christian or a Jewish congregant to say “Amen.”
One thing, however, this is not the Gospel, as is the habit of some religious leaders in some denominations express it… One or two select verses is not the Gospel — only a part. If I was to limit the Gospel to one verse, perhaps I would say what Jesus said at the outset of His mission:
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” — Matthew 4:17, BSB.
Still, that is only the start, the spark that gets the fire going.
Maybe Peter’s preaching recorded in the first 36 verses of Acts 2 would be more complete… Better yet, how about reading all 27 books of the New Testament?
No matter, any attempt to put the Gospel of Jesus Christ into a box is futile:
There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written. — John 21:25, BSB.
