Back to Basics

Recently continuing to reassess my writing, maybe my arguments are mere intellectual persuasions. Maybe I should simply emphasize the personal benefits received from believing God exists and the rewards received from following Him.

Maybe not…

People seem to find ways to criticize both approaches.

Basically, people don’t want to hear anything about God, Jesus, or the Bible.

My experience on Medium.com is that most responses are not responding specifically to what was written, but immediately jump to some other idea or some other belief that someone else may have expressed in their hearing.

It would be very frustrating if the Bible hadn’t already made it clear that those kinds of things would happen.

Some writers go to great lengths to prove their points — even using the Bible’s own writings.

Again, the problem with personal beliefs in intellectual cadence is not convincing. Stubbornly, I hold on to the hope people will choose to break the chains of religious, personal, social, and political dogma to discover experiences outside the purely intellectual mindsets.

Perhaps it is true that what people like myself have discovered is that choosing to turn to Jesus is the only way that can happen where some people” are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.” — 2 Timothy 3: 6–7, {my edit}.

Still and all, for over 20 years of my life, I wandered aimlessly, living comfortably with my parents and with their foresight and provision. I had learned about most all the major Bible stories. Yet, to me they were just stories with the same significance as Walt Disney cartoons.

However, as I grew up and troubles piled up within and without and no relief was in sight in deep peril, I called on God to rescue me, and He did. He placed His hand on my life and eventually — rather soon really — He led me to Jesus for the provided rescue plan in the Bible by which He saved me, cleansing me within and began to expand it without.

So, today, as I try to share the reality of God, Jesus, and the Bible for whoever chooses to accept His generous offer, I remain baffled why too many people make so many objections and excuses for refusing to take Jesus’ hand.
