- Politics and Christianity are like oil and water

September 26, 2025

In European History, during the Middle Ages, religion began to play an ginormous role — not only in the general mindset, but it creeped into the politics of the monarchical system of government. As denominations of the Reformation came into being, whatever bloc held the Kings and Queens devotion, everybody in the particular nation had to belong to that same Church.

Many wars of Europe used the excuse of religious differences to conscript their citizens to bleed and die for the Royals’ devotion to their particular sect. That was a ruse, however, to arouse the passions of those who would soon be bleeding and dying, leaving lots of widows and orphans behind.

The ordinary folks finally came to their senses and decided they had had enough bleeding and dying in the pursuit of the religious whims of their Sovereigns.

They realized it was really all about wealth and prestige to be gained with the expansive possession of lands.

Our United States’ Colonies came to be, because the Europeans got damn sick and tired of serving the Royals’ pettiness and greed.

Therefore, when they emigrated to America, established Colonies, and finally fought for themselves to become an independent Nation, they damn well made sure that the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of their own happiness was guaranteed.

Likewise they were not about to have continual war based on Religions, and they inscribed that precept in their founding documents.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. — https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-1/

Therefore, first and foremost, Christian Nationalism goes against the Constitution of the United States of America.

Christian Nationalism goes against the Constitution in several ways on several points:

  • Religion (their religion) and State (our country) are once again conjoined.
  • Biblical law (their version of the Ten Commandments) is the one and only civil authority.
  • White Supremacy which undergirds structural racism and political wealth and power and social control.
  • Special dispensation of God’s preference of the U.S. (they can do no wrong).
  • Nativism, or the “we-were-here-first mentality.”

Note: That last precept is right out of the movie “Gangs of New York.”

Gangs of New York: The Natives vs. Dead Rabbits

Isn’t all the bloodshed and hate and discord what the Colonials wanted to get away from? And you and me, would we rather go back?

Finally, and of supreme import, just because someone or some group slaps on the name “Christian” on their logo or mentions the name “Jesus” in their speeches doesn’t make either a true representation of their organization’s motives, nor a validation of their talks.
