"Christianity" is a shell of its First Century self when it was often called the Jesus Sect (a sect of Judaism of the same era). They had everything in common and if they had say summer homes, they would sell them and give the proceeds to their group for supporting widows, missionaries (apostles), and so on. It all was a concerted effort to spread the Gospel of Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. The apostle Paul emphasized the necessity to do all things in ἀγάπη (agápē) lovingkindness. There is little recognizable in today's populist mega churches, true enough, but their is a remnant which remains, and you wouldn't have to look that far and wide to find them, if you'd get off your high horse and walk down here with the rest of us.
