When pouring the water into our drip coffee maker, I remembered my HS Science about molecules sticking together and applied it to how fast I poured, because I poured too much too fast, spilling water all over the counter.

So, now I pour slowly, watching the cohesion do its thing. — and part of me is a bit amazed by it.

MerriamWebster.com defines these two similar words this way:

Cohesion — “the act or state of sticking together tightly especially : unity”

Adhesion — “steady or firm attachment: adherence” or “agreement to join”

Regardless, this morning I thought how it applies to the physical world, and then saw how it might apply to the metaphysical world.

The Bible claims that God created the Universe, our world, and everything in them. Here is the Bible’s observation:

“…For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” — Colassians 1:16–17, Berean Standard Bible.

I thought that was interesting. People claim the Bible is opposed to Science, and yet here is an apostolic view that shows that the Bible is completely in adherence with Scientific principles!

TIn addition, the Bible is both a cohesive record and an adhesive account in agreement with itself through all the history, characters’ experiences, and among all principles and precepts expressed by all its writers, centuries upon centuries.

There have been many “johnny-come-latelies” who nitpick and use debunked resources to discredit God, Jesus, and the Bible and by not applying their own critical methodology to their own theories and their so-called logical conclusions. For example, they will challenge the origins of Bible signatures, but expect universal blind acceptance of what are considered by theologians to be extra-biblical sources. and “old wives tales.”

Before accepting carte blanche what they are promoting, check their credentials as to being Biblical scholars or some other type of authorities.

One of the biggest schools of Atheistic Science, believes that the Universe created itself followed by everything in the universe also creating itself and crowned by those self created materials spontaneously creating living things which evolved into all living things that we see not evolving but vanished, departed, gone.

Does that Theory really stand up to the Scientific Method or to even just plain Common Sense? (I have to admit that I sucked it all in as a gullible young man in my early Public Schools.)

So, how solid is the ground which is foundational for the Theory of Evolution? Science observes today that, as I just indicated, thousands of species are disappearing, that is, becoming extinct without evolving into more successful species.

Species disappear. New life forms may be discovered, but that by no means is supportive of evolution… People used to think the Earth was flat but discovered otherwise. That doesn’t mean the planet evolved right beneath our feet, does it?

Nothing creating something?

Spontaneous combustion? Of nothing, a flame?

“Combustion is another name for burning. In a combustion reaction, fuel is burned and reacts with oxygen to release energy.” — https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zcwxcj6

So, no. The correct answer is “No.”

Two things that don’t exist must combine to get a reaction?

Seriously?

Again, the correct answer is “No.”

Now here’s where adhesion and cohesion come into play in the metaphysical world of God, Jesus, and the Bible:

God wants to come together with Mankind (adhesion) , and on an individual basis, “everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” — John 3:15–17, BSB. (cohesion)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” — Matthew 11:28–30. (adhesion and cohesion)

All the characters in the Bible record acknowledge within their life stories that God exists and rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Even the miscreants who oppose God, destroying other people’s lives are eventually, themselves, through their disobedient ways, give testimony that God exists and that God has designed the world with all its physical and metaphysical laws which are called consequences — apparent, manifest, pragmatic.

Consequences… Choices… They stick together just like the water I poured to make my coffee this morning.

In the context of this essay, we all need to adhere to God’s cohesive invitation recorded in the Bible:

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life, drink freely. — Revelation 22:17, BSB.
