Dear Lilith, I am no expert on world religions, and really am only a novice regarding Biblical Christianity, but I have been a novice for over 50 years. There seems to be no limit to the gems of understanding I am finding in the Bible. As for your essay, I agree that there are many gods around the world and throughout history. The difference between them and God of the Bible is He is referred to as the living God. Most others are made up gods and are actually made of material things like wood, gold, and plastics, that is to say, they are dead objects of worship- even in Denominational Christianity there are plastic Marys on dashboards! The problem is that the latter religion has a lot of made up stuff too. The Roman Church, for example, has many residuals added to the pure Gospel message that were extracted from the ancient Roman Empire's polytheistic religion(s). One last point is intensely important : As a twice born Believer, Jesus has effected my life inside and out and has given to me a restored fellowship with him, very similar to when He walked in the Garden of Eden "in the cool of the day." He is active in my life, whereas the made up gods say nothing and do nothing - despite the superstitious claims from the past... I cannot fathom what their appeal actually is. They aren't personally involved in people's lives but seem to demand the inverse as a requirement, proving fealty to them. One bad result can be seen in the caste system with its precipitating doctrine of reincarnation. Finally, God of the Bible isn't a horrible person, people are horrible persons. Even agnostics and atheists are horrible if you wish to check that group out, too. I don't understand why you don't also go after exposing their hypocrisy... Anyways, maybe it is not your intent, but your own vituperativeness is a revealing trait of your essays...
