Deep State Anxiety

I could never figure out what was the “Deep State” that so many people revile so vehemently. I was surprised to hear that they were directing their hate at fellow Americans who were hard at work, doing the jobs responsible for running the country.

Part of their problem isn’t the Deep State itself, but is being totally unfamiliar with how things work, how the work gets done, and what the work accomplishes for them. Maybe their lives have always been centered around being involved with their families — which, of course, is a good thing. However, they never even have attended Local Government meetings in their lives but now have suddenly become horrified by how the Government works — or perhaps, how government doesn’t work particularly for only them in all things human. Perhaps, democratic governments are designed to work for everyone, not only for me, in particular, or for you, in particular.

Perhaps Government has grown as large as the population has and has become a bit cumbersome, but that shouldn’t change our attitude.

Maybe, as some say, we should return to at least something slightly similar to self-reliance, cut Momma America’s apron strings, forsaking paternalistic reliance on government, and do a little independent thinking and doing on our own.

Anyways, those “johnny-come-latelies” suddenly have become firebrands. They are now ready to tear everything down with the backing of rumors, innuendo, and outright lies. Ignorance is no longer bliss, but such unfamiliarity has become a calamity of unrestricted proportions.

My advice: Calm down for heaven’s sake!

It is simply called “bureaucracy” and it simply means the collection of employees hired or appointed to do public service. If you have forgotten, let me remind you that you are the public, and they are regular people trying hard to accomplish public services for you.

Strangeness can grow into visions of monsters…Halloween year round…

Here are just a few examples of the services Government provides: Disaster Relief, getting your Social Security to you, sending WIC checks to you (https://www.fns.usda.gov/wic), keeping clean water in your tap, making sure your food and medicines are healthy (FDA), making sure foreign enemies with weapons of mass destruction don’t mass destruct us all (U.S. Armed Forces), and so on and so forth.

Maybe you think you could do a better job than they are doing, but I seriously doubt it. I doubt it very much. You probably don’t even know how your local organizations work — either public (like government) or private (like your church or Lions Club).

This is election time, and if you don’t even vote, you have no right to criticize, and if you vote in some paranoid, crazy state of mind, will capable people get elected or only other paranoid, crazy people?

Now, here’s a little factoid: “In 2022, around 19.23 million people were working for state and local governments in the United States. This is much higher than the number of federal government (civilian) employees, which stood at about 2.87 million people in that year.” (www.statista.com/statistics).

If you have ever driven “downtown” on a national holiday, the scant traffic on the highway might demonstrate how many work for us where we live.

As a Union Rep, I know that it is very difficult to organize people to form a Local Union — not unlike the phrase “herding cats.” Members are always questioning the need for Unions, but try getting those same Members to voice their needs by attending meetings! This might be how people develop the idea that some grandiose conspiracy exists in the millions of government Employees.

People are getting all revved up to tear everything down, but they are doing that without any idea of how to replace things or what to replace things with. They cannot explain themselves. I cannot figure them out. Such anarchists cannot explain their minds, either. I’ve been told, “Just connect the dots!” but never have been told what exactly any of those dots are!

So…

Quit being so easily panicked.

Calm down!

Quit being tools of chaos, anarchy, and being pawns of individuals of unknown entitlement and personal agendas.

Here is the Biblical solution: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think on these things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” — Philippians 4:5–9, Berean Standard Bible.
