Easter Egg in a Nutshell
April 26, 2025
Now that all the celebrating has passed — whether secular or religious — and the high winds of emotions have calmed back down into the daily breezes of a regular routine, two points…
One point is that we should not hyperventilate on the messages in the Bible with unnecessary embellishments. My point? Isn’t it enough that Jesus, the Son of God, died for us?
To satisfy the righteous justice of God — because of Their love for Mankind — Jesus offered Himself to be the appeasing and propitiatory sacrifice to rescue us — in fact, all of Humanity, each and every person — from the consequences of our hurtful and harmful behaviors. Those behaviors deserve condemnation. The fines have to be paid. The bail had to be provided.
In the way the Bible presents the need for sacrifice, where the blood covers up for the sins of a person, a lamb or some other living animal had to be slain. Its life would atone for our destructive activities. Life for a life. (Genesis 9:4)
You probably heard all about that, if you attended church services last week, or heard the story growing up over the years. So, I won’t belabor that point.
What the unnecessary embellishment is, is the piling on of the actual consequential pains of each one of each and everybody’s sins from the beginning of history to all the future pains to be caused by everybody for all future sins…
Isn’t it enough that Jesus made a once and for all sacrifice to construct the vehicle and the road to drive on, and the eternal destination for us to drive to?
Sadly, no, of course not…
We people — of such great imagination and “insights” — need to make a big Hollywood production out of everything. We think people need a movie that will grab the audience’s eye-popping attention….a blockbusting spectacle that will wow moviegoers… excite them… inspire them… motivate them…
Sadly, maybe we do.
However, just plainly stated, Jesus suffered once for all:
For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit… — 1 Peter 3:18, BSB.
Straight talk: This gracious act needs no improvement or embellishment… no ribbons or bows…
My second point is about Mankind’s technical prowess in building the Tower of Babel to attain Paradise.
It seems to me that every civilization, every Empire, every invention promising to make our lives a Utopian Wonderland in a blissful state of Nirvana have all, rather, been dominated by unforeseen destructive consequences.
It also seems to be that the Bible describes the Endtime Beast as an oppressive, world-wide Economic System with the Whore of Babylon riding upon its back — the whore being the queen of the whole of Earth’s population who have to buy and sell, drinking from her bountiful breasts… In a word. Merch…
I just watched a documentary from The American Experience titled “The Gilded Age.” It illustrated to me the “rinse-wash-repeat” endless historical cycles of every civilization, every Empire, every invention, etc which I mentioned above.
It just keeps getting worse.
Every new age.
Every era.
Every New World Order and its leaders, whoever has dominated world history… (only the names and faces change)… The consequences remain the same…
It just keeps getting worse.
I believe God foresaw all the ugly, messy consequences and determined to slow it down while, in the meantime, accomplishing all His good will for Mankind. He continues to do so until He decides it’s time for the ultimate resolution…
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. — 2 Peter 3:9, BSB.
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way. — 2 Thessalonians 2:7, BSB.
I’ll leave off here and now.
Do with this what you will, but I wrote this brief essay not for nothing.
Please keep in mind this old adage: “If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck… it’s probably a duck.?
