Everything you wrote is true enough. I have always been pro-Union even when holding non-Union jobs. You see, whatever the Unions at the Steel Mill or the GM Plant won in wage increases, I would get the same % raise.
When I obtained a Union job, I actually got rights - the same as everyone else. and as a Union Rep, I was proud of the fact that male or female , black or white, whatever religion, etc. - if you could do the job the Company had to give you the job and pay the same Union scale as anyone else who could or would hold that job.
Still and all, I wanted to add to the conversation that the whole Economy has become a House of Cards. You see, wealth has become an ethereal structured fantasy (Bitcoin being the extreme ponzi scheme).
Wealth creation is the process of extracting something out of the Earth like iron ore - for farmers, it's taking soil nutrients and harvesting crops. Next, taking the ore and making steel, taking the steel and manufacturing useful products which are then handed off to Service Sector employees from like Sales, for instance...
I've oversimplified the process, but the important aspect to know is that at each and every step, value is added. That value-added process is the key for wealth generation - and along the way, everybody gets a piece of the pie..
However, what the trend is now, operates in an ethereal fantasy world where no real value is added at any step of the way... There are no actual dynamics to its processes and nothing in which any value is added. It's one of those many "shiny object distractions" used to calm babies.
We are not babies.
We need to get back to realism instead of etherealism and its birth parents paternalism and maternalism. It would help us a lot to actually see how precarious our economic situation has become.
Knowledge is power. Use it.
