Explain It To Me
Explain It To Me
December 16, 2024
There are some things I understand, and there are some things I don’t. Growing up in the 60’s and with the mindset of questioning why there was so much evil in the world with all its irregularities and injustices, I couldn’t imagine it getting worse… But it has obviously gotten worse.
Way back then, I challenged God with “Why don’t you intervene?!”
Since then, I have learned He already has.
“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love — not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son…” 1 John 4:9–10a, New Living Translation..
Nevertheless, given this choice and this reality, I don’t completely understand why most people choose to reject God, Jesus, and the Bible. Perhaps this has something to do with it:
“You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them.” — James 4:2. NLT.
What completely baffles me is the army of skeptics, critics, and prosecutors who seem to have made a lifelong commitment to block others from coming to a knowledge of the truth:
“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12, NLT.
They reject the plainly expressed testimonies of the apostles, Jesus’ disciples, and in particular which John expresses this:
“We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.” — 1 John 1:1, NLT.
All of the deniers seem to only believe in themselves an ordinary person, Samuel Johnson, has coined this famous proverb:
“Before you act, it’s Prudence soberly to consider; for after Action you cannot recede without dishonour: Take the Advice of some Prudent Friend; for he who will be his own Counsellour, shall be sure to have a Fool for his Client.”
In a simpler form, “An attorney who represents himself has a fool for a client.”
In this same vein of jurisprudence, the Bible records Jesus’ promise:
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.f No, I will not abandon you as orphans…” — John 14:16–18, NLT.
Please take special note of the fact, as I am trying to stay in the lane of jurisprudence, the Advocate comes from the Greek word Paraclete who was a family’s personal attorney.
Doesn’t a family attorney both give advice and suppor and also defend the family from prosecution? So, that’s God’s provision for His family, also.
So, I am wondering, those self-appointed Prosecutors who ignorantly attempt to build their case against God, Jesus, and the Bible, and indirectly, all Believers who sit in this Courtroom… but “No. they are trying to prosecute their case in the Supreme Court of God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth and every living thing therein.
To me I see Bush Leaguers and Wannabes who have as “proof” only personal speculation and unsubstantiated evidence and with witness testimonies which they cannot corroborate..
The situation is very similar to that recorded during the Trial of Jesus:
“The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.” — Mark 14:55–56, New International Version.
“Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him. Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death. Therefore, I will punish him and then release him..” — Luke 23:13–16, NIV.
Today, Believers are testifying over and over again in word, song, and deeds about the dynamic intervention, bringing changes into their lives because of their acceptance of God’s plan to inject the Gospel of Jesus into their lives…
All of these acts are recorded in the Bible and are available to all who choose to believe and accept. God, Jesus, and the Bible..
So, my advice to those attempting to prosecute a case against Jesus, “Stop. You are not nearly qualified and no Law Firm in the real world would ever even consider hiring you.”
