First of all, I'm a Born Again Bible Believing Holy Roller and not ashamed of it.
Second, your historical research on the Founders is exactly what I did find, and they were not only Deists but came from a variety of church membership - from Roman Catholic to Presbyterian to Quaker to Anglican among others.
Public School Teachers teaching about God, Jesus, and the Bible is worse than stupid - much like making a priority to arm them with minimal military situational training - a disaster waiting to happen.
To be quite frank, I am persuaded that most Religious Leaders - in this case self-named Christians - have little to no idea what they are talking about.
Then there's this: The Royals of Europe would war against the Protestants, if they were Catholic, and they would take away the Protestants weapons, and the Royals of Europe, if they were Protestant, it all would just be reversed.
Of note, historically, the Royals were considered the Conservatives, while the ordinary people (who were pressed into the armies to fight each other) were classified as Liberals - which also makes some sort of perverted sense today.
The French and American Revolutions reflected the ordinary people's frustration with the continual persecutions and warfare. So, the Founding Fathers made sure that that environment no longer existed... Unfortunately, people who believe they are superior to others and therefore deserve higher authority still exist, and not ironically, still call themselves Conservatives!
By the by, Professor Emeritus John Lennox of Oxford, a prolific author, has several videos about Christianity and world religions, very compelling, even though a bit above Patty's and my grade level. You might enjoy them.
Anyways, thanks for writing a great essay.
