Genocide & War

It’s not genocide. It’s war. Israel did not start the latest Middle East war. Hamas started the war. Israel will finish the war Hamas started.

The United States did the exact same thing in WWII. The Japanese Empire bombed Pearl Harbor. In so doing, “The attack killed 2,403 U.S. personnel, including 68 civilians, and destroyed or damaged 19 U.S. Navy ships, including 8 battleships.” — https://www.census.gov/history/pdf/pearl-harbor-fact-sheet-1.pdf

(By the way, why has South Africa been completely silent for many decades on the genocides occuring within their own continent of Africa? I never heard that they have taken any of them to the Hague for Judgment. Could it be that the South African whites have historically opposed the Jewish people?)

“A conservative accounting shows 25 million people died in the Asia Pacific War. About six million were combatants, mostly Chinese and Japanese. That leaves 19 million noncombatant deaths. Japanese noncombatant deaths may have reached at the upper limit of one to 1.2 million.” — nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/asia-pacific-war-1945

“By contrast, the Pacific War, the struggle between the United States and Japan across the Pacific, produced about two to 2.5 million deaths…” — ibid

“ 65 million: Estimated total worldwide deaths as a result of World War II (military and civilian).” — www.ww2classroom.org/system/files/essays/wip003_0.pdf

That is war, not genocide. Civilian non-combatants die just like the military combatants.

“Genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group.” — en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocides_in_history

There’s the difference, and it is a very big difference.

“Throughout human history, no war’s death toll comes close to that of the Second World War. Estimates of total fatalities generally range between 70 and 85 million people, and up to two thirds of these deaths were civilians, killed through various means such as famine, disease, aerial bombardment, and mass genocide. The latter of these, particularly genocide committed by the Nazi regime, stands out due to its scale, the reasoning behind it, and the methodical nature in which it was carried out. In total, upwards of 17 million people were systematically murdered by the Nazis, largely based on their ethnicity.” www.statista.com/topics/9066/the-holocaust/#topicOverview

Civilian deaths are inevitable, inadvertent, and filed under “random statistics” in Wars. Just an aside: Stalin said something like, “When 10 people die it is a tragedy. When 10 million people die, it’s just a statistic.”

Genocide is purposefully carried out. Often the statistics are recorded for posterity , as in the prideful arrogance of Hitler’s Nazi regime.

Civilian deaths are the constant sorrow of all Wars.

The Americans didn’t start WWII, but intended to end it.

Israelis didn’t start the Hamas War, but intend to end it.
