I agree about the oligarchs wanting all the wealth and all the levers of power, but not sure they're thinking about Climate Chang as a real thing... "existential" is not part of their vocabulary. Establishing colonies on Mars is ridiculous and they know that. It is a scam and a moneymaker for people like Musk, and that's it.

You used the oft misquoted Bible excerpt. Most people don't ever read the Bible. So, its less than a trivial thing, I suppose... neither will most see what's happening as a possible climax of the Biblical epoch.

Anyways the sowing and the reaping is an agricultural expression from when the fields were sown by hand. That couldn't be done on a windy day or the fields would have a lot of empty spots in which wind would pick up the bare soil into "dust bunnies" - or worse, dust bowls. Thus the saying, "If you sow into the wind," you'll reap dust instead of a crop.
