I could not find the source for your saying "submit" was not in original manuscripts, Pkease help me in that search. (Thank you.)
What I did find was that in the Greek culture family was the most essential and the most important. Also, government and the millitary also used the same word, but it was for meaning "arranaging under" - kind of like, putting one's life in order before death - but neverthless, it was for organizational purposes. It was not for social or moral significance of one partner over the other. That becomes obvious in the context of the verses surrounding it. Also in the context of Genesis: It is God's original intent for the Two to become One, and, as I understand that to mean, a man and a woman would be entering into a full and equal partnership.
Still and all, I agree that the chauvinistic misuse of the word has been a major problem. Its misuse by certain groups, -theistic and atheistic - has always been a major problem and a detrimant for the Gospel's acceptance.
And by the by, your stating that manuscripts are unreliable doesn't help your cause. Also, I didn't need your essay to undeerstand Paul's message, and the rest of your essay seems to say the same.
