I, for one, have rejected the whole notion of "church "fathers" as Jesus said not to call anyone on Earth "father." That means we need to escape our paternalistic thinking and listen only to God, Jesus., and the Bible. Jesus' Gospel is all about receiving a personal, interactive relationship with Him and growing in it. We turn to "fathers" because we are lost without our mommies and daddies. But Jesus said He will not leave us as orphans!
