I generally agree with you., and from Tyndale House Publishers - "The original authors of Scripture probably used some punctuation and paragraph divisions, but they almost certainly did not use chapter divisions and numbers. Yet chapters permeate editions of the Bible today and they influence how we read Scripture, often unconsciously. - Nov 22, 2023" Also, from the Bible, "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them, because they are discerned only through the Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 2:14, NLT. As I understand it, the numbering was done so that the copyists who transcribed the Bible, when their day was done, could know where they left off when they came back to work the next day...
