I've seen pretty abhorrent sexual behavior, mostly along the lines of exhibitionism, whether homo- or hetero-, virtually screaming for attention from the innermost person. I've also seen violence from the same universe of people. The Bible condemns all kinds of "sinful" behaviors" - Galatians 5:19-21 puts it this way: "What human nature does is quite plain. It shows itself in immoral, filthy, and indecent actions; in worship of idols and witchcraft. People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry, and ambitious. They separate into parties and groups; they are envious, get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these. I warn you now as I have before: those who do these things will not possess the Kingdom of God." - Good News Translation. Now, this sets up what the end results of unbridled human nature produces. Not limited to sexual behavior, the list is quite extensive. Yet, in the context of limited scope of human understanding, all these behaviors are seen through the lens of "I'm okay; you're okay." There is no containment, no guardrails, and the consequences cannot be averted, diverted, or evaded. Christianity is a whole new ballgame. The apostle Paul continues to show a different lifestyle in Galatians 5:22-24, "But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the [sinful nature together with its passions and appetites.]", Amplified Bible. (I've used this amplification especially so that the word"love" is not denigrated or misunderstood.) By the by, following Jesus is far more than trying to follow the Golden Rule. Reducing it to a "live and let live" paradigm is a simple, but shallow understanding. Thanks for responding.
