Just want to pont out that most folks have no concept of what "liberal" in the phrase "liberal democracy" means!

My understanding is that the emergence of the Parliamentary form of government which modified the Monarchal system, gave birth to the Conservative/Liberal divide - that is, the Conservatives who wanted to maintain their privilege and power up against the Liberals who wanted to maintain popular rule of law by ordinary people,. These positions have been obviously demonstrated by the French and American Revolutions.
