Lost Enthusiasm
Have you noticed lately that the national news anchors have begun various versions of happy newscasts. I should think that it is a much needed diversion and respite from all the terrible news they have to repeat hour after hour, day after day, week after week (and we have to hear). It may well be a good defense against insanity for both them and us!
In a similar way — at least for people my age — we have had all the bad news we can handle, thank you. We’ve gone through all the changes our lifetimes have offered, and we are going to ease into our well-deserved rest. I know I have been struggling lately with an underwhelming lack of enthusiasm! I just want to find a comfortable deck chair and enjoy my voyage to NYC on this great ship HMSTitanic. Life can’t get any better!
Wait a minute. Is this deja vu all over again?!?
Nobody saw the iceberg right in front of them and nobody was prepared.
Jesus said He would be coming back at an unknown hour. The end of the world will come like a thief in the dark of night. So, we are to keep watch and stay alert. Be alert and keep a steady watch. In heaven, we will have plenty of time to rest.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”
Get right with God. Read the Bible and seek Jesus’ personal presence in your life. Don’t get caught napping.
Please.
