Maybe you miss the point of justice and mercy and see it ony as a dichotomy and not a rectifying of injustice and cruelty on the part of people who are more than unrighteous. Much of what people did and always seem to do is illustrated in the Middle East almost every day and throughout the world for centuries upon centuries.
