Men Are Responsible

I just finished an essay, and in it I reiterated the full spectrum of Original Sin as recorded in the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Also, I wrote about the responsibilities given by God to all people. The Creator of all things in the Universe — whether seen or unseen — above all, God created all living things — seen and unseen — and that includes all Human Beings.

After providing so much, He gave just two responsibilities… Take good care of what He provided, and have children.

He gave just one prohibition…

Oops!

Now, we usually dismiss Adam and Eve’s violation of that law as a “one and done” event.

However, look around. We are still devouring the fruit of that Tree of Knowledge, and we are being destroyed by what we do with having the ability to attain all that knowing.

We imagine that we can build our own stairway to heaven. We can build our own paradise. Yet, we are being overwhelmed by what we have built. We are trapped in our own continuous building.

Oh, of course we have assembled quite an array of conveniences, comforts, cures, and curiosities, but while accumulating all these benefits, Mankind has ignored the negative accumulations piling up in the corner.

What I mean by that is we work so hard but have very little to show for it. Materially we are wealthy while others have little water and even less food.

Creating our own paradise has created other peoples’ hell.

Our happiness brings others misery.

Still, there is more to what we are bringing. We are bringing calamity upon everyone.

Unfortunately, we are so busy with our own happiness, few of us can see the deluge building over the seawall we think is protecting us!

Let’s take a peek over that wall…

We are suffocating in the air we breathe. We have no way out from under the piles and piles of garbage we generate. Our Leaders — both Political and Economic — crush us under their feet by their demands and selfish designs — designs for satisfying their unquenchable greed…

And we, suckers that we are, have been left to fight one another over the bones thrown our way.

They plunge us into wars they never themselves fight…

It’s the blood of ordinary men and women that bleed out on the ground…

Afterwards, they show no real compassion by provisioning for the broken bodies, and broken lives of those who return, and the broken families which the dead leave behind…

After all, “Leave no man behind” is not their motto.

Yet, somehow, they have become wealthier and even more determined to accumulate even more wealth and power and prestige, worshiping the Unholy Trinity atop the Tower we helped to build.

We are expected to worship at that altar, too.

Sadly, many do.

I guess we can try to blame our way out of this mess…

Look. It’s mostly men who are responsible, and I intentionally use the term “Mankind,” because it’s mostly men who are the Leaders who create this mess. Often I shun that term because it is often misconstrued to exclude Womankind… Silly, but that’s what our culture has come to dictate.

God told Mankind to take care of the Earth and to become responsible for raising Families. He warned about eating the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Everything,,, and that is what the phrase “good and evil” means in ancient Egyption… and who wrote Genesis, but Moses, raised in all the schooling of Pharaoh.

Notwithstanding, people can play the Blame Game all they want, but no one will escape the consequences when their whole world collapses around them and the whole world collapses in every way possible.

It is apparent that every dynamic of Life has been sliding sideways. A Society discombobulated. Cultures morally and ethically disturbed, deranged, and demented.

It is said that “eighty eight percent of Americans own a Bible, and most own multiple copies. While that’s impressive and even encouraging, the big question is whether Americans who own a Bible actually read it, and more importantly do they believe it and live according to its teachings?”https://wifamilycouncil.org

The Bible has become just another item we fight over, hasn’t it?

Unfortunately, unless people openly and humbly and, perhaps, desperately turn to God, we all will perish under the collapsed weight of our own fleeting material and ethereal constructs…

Remember how Adam tried to blame Eve?

How’d that work out for him?

Likewise, I don’t see it working out for us, either, that is, looking around for someone to blame.

It’s becoming more and more obvious to me that those who control the levers of power have no intention to lift even a little finger to take responsibility to start to fix the Environment and every other rotting thing we’ve left behind in our wake…

However, most everyone seems very content with how things are working out for themselves.

Maybe we are just too tired to object.

Then, too, we seem to be preoccupied looking for someone to blame for all of it.

Besides, who do we think we are?

Innocent bystanders, that’s who!

We are gleefully spinning around, pointing our fingers at everyone else. It’s dizzying!

No wonder we are so tired.

Finally, I’ll conclude the matter with a solution from my panoramic view from the Biblical landscape…

The cascade of consequences for ignoring our God-given responsibilities is going to end in very ugly ways.

Jesus’ Disciples came to Him asking about what the end of the world would be like. About the middle of His answering He said this:

For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones. — Matthew 24:21–22, NLT.

So, it’s going to get bad, very bad, and very real. Yet, God has given us a way of escape just as He offered to those who escaped into Noah’s Ark:

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. — John 3:16–17, NLT.

So, there’s that… and it doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not.

But then, there is this:

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. — Psalm 30:5, NLT.
