Miracles in my Life

The following essay is an article I published in the Island Dispatch newspaper around 1975:

God has worked many miracles in my life,,, I had really messed up, but in His mercy, He gave me a fresh start. I was in bondage to immorality, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs, but the Lord delivered me from them all. He has kept me alive from a deathly illness, and He has healed my personal inner wounds. He initiated my trust in Him and He is perfecting my faith.

Do such miracles mean that I am someone special? Of course not! Do my bad experiences mean that a person has to hit rock bottom before calling on Him? Wrong again!

What God has shown in my life is that no sin is too filthy for Him to clean, no wound too deep for Him to heal, no one is too far away for Him to reach, no problem is too complex for Him to solve, and no head is too thick for Him to penetrate!

Then what keeps people from a life of miracles? Refusing to accept the mercy of the loving Savior, unwillingness to submit to the King of kings, stubbornness that scoffs at the Helper and Friend, greed that thwarts the kindness of Providence, and self-pity that keeps silence before the Counselor, Healer, and Great Physician.

Perhaps you are a decent sort, having a generally good time, good health, and some prosperity. Yet, in comparison to God’s will for our lives, we are all miserable, sickly, and poor! You see, God’s will for us is way up here someplace, but we are always settling for something way down here somewheres..,

Listen, when I confront you, all you are getting is an opinion, but the good news is that when God confronts you, He can also enable you to follow the truth and to walk in His ways — yet, only if you are willing. God can change your life — no matter how good you think you have it — beyond anything you could hope or dream!

So, if you want a life of miracles, start by calling on the Lord, letting God, Jesus. and the Bible into your life and lifestyle.

Let me conclude by saying that you can know God exists and He is a loving God full of kindness towards everyone who calls on Jesus… and let me say that it is the greatest of miracles that such a great God cares about our miserable little lives at all… “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16.
