My wife and I were members of a very ssmall assembly of Born Again Believers. We took our kids there. I taught teenage Sunday School there. We had Holy Ghost services with manifestations of gifts and water baptisms Unfortunately, even though small, it became top heavy and the leadership - no matter intent - pulled the fellowship apart. We have had nowhere to go since even though we treid. For example, we went to an old neighborhood assembly , hoping to find renewal, but, again unfortunately, it had become top heavy also and its thriving fellowship was reduced to practically nothing and the two pastors, husband and wife had little edifying to share. TV (Brooklyn Tabernacle) has been our "go to" as we tread water on the oceans of life. But like you say there is little intimacy and no path of service, sitting on our couch. I thank God for that TV outreach and for the intimacy of the Holy Spirit who keeps us progressing.
