Manufacturers used to compete to make the sturdiest and most long-lasting products for the benefit of Consumers.

News Anchors and Reporters used to pride themselves in “getting to the bottom” of events to present the sturdiest and most reliable information for the benefit of the Public.

Both entities managed their enterprises for the benefit of the People.

These days, the Consumer is lucky if the products they buy with their limited and hard-earned cash make it to the end of the Warranty and don’t become unreliable beforehand, falling apart, piece by piece, too soon after purchase.

These days, both groups’ mindset has devolved into an antediluvian and selfish “survival of the fittest” mode. No community-minded thinking whatsoever.

The Consumer is no longer the audience, no longer considered to be… I don’t know what word to use… “worthy” …? “important” …?

Maybe those words are too judgmental, but then again, probably not.

We little people are not their concern anymore. No. We are the least of their concerns. They’ve left us for a new lover: Whoever is writing their paychecks is now their one and only sweetheart. Corporate Sponsors have wooed away our suitors. Money is the only prize with which they concern themselves. Their servants are beholden to those owners, too, and with an added and subtly different demand: blind loyalty…

Sure. We ordinary workers do our jobs so we can get paid… but there’s a difference… We are obliged to provide for our families, while News People are legally accountable to the Public — you and me — just like elected Public Representatives are supposed to be obliged… But. oh yeah… Unfortunately, Politicians also seem to have apparently forgotten their responsibility for service for the Public good — not their own.

All Manufacturers and most all Journalists, and now, I have to add Politicians to this list, have only two lovers who they feel obliged to kiss up to: Ms. Exuberance Profit and Sir Donald the Trump.

Why can’t they just come out and say it?

Instead, they have become sycophantic mouthpieces to constantly blather a false doctrine, religiously adhered to, that “fair and balanced” BS.

Why oh why can’t they just call a lie a lie, and call it out, shout it out?!?

Each and every time political blasphemers assert and affirm their lies, Journalists are supposed to be obligated to call BS until those liars are stopped in mortified silence.

I guess that’s just too simple for them to do…
