Not disagreeing with you about Outreach, but wasn't the main thrust of charity "charity begins at home" and the practicing Christians portraying to outsiders how Believers love one another. Charity Collections were brought to the hard pressed Believers in Jerusalem - my point being relating to cold water given to little disciples. Nevertheless, in the Presbyterian Church my parents attended when I was young had a tradition of once a year - and I emphasize only once - had a Potluck Dinner, sans Communion, patterned after the fellowship meals in Acts and also referred to by the apostle Paul.
