I'm. of course.on the outside looking in, but I tried very hard to understand your point of view, but I consistently saw your use of the Texas Sharpshooter approach. I think we all can sometimes commit to some idea which makes it harder to see any problem with it.
As for me, I am extremely glad that there is only one step in the Biblical system: Call on the name of the Lord, and He has taken everything over from there.
Here's an Old Testament rule that can be used as a metaphor in the New: "Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it. And you must not go up to My altar on steps, lest your nakedness be exposed on it."
So, metaphorically, the use of a chisel represents changing what God says by selective opinion or misrepresenting who He is. The nakedness is public exposure to one's guilt - which God had covered in the story of the Fall of Man, the naked truth was covered up with animal skins.
