Techno Idiot
October 24, 2024
That’s me. Not a bit of techy in me.
I spent a day and a half trying to fix my printer, which had, just one day earlier, been working perfectly… After half a day, I was starting to lose it. I was starting to fall back on my old habit of losing it. There was a time I would deal with frustration that way, I would start throwing things… including curse words… In fact, I did throw some coarse epithets around.
I Googled for an answer again, again, and again. AI meddling made it even more complicated for me, telling me I was searching for something else. AI is a pain! It mostly gave me ads instead of answers.
As you can tell, most of what I read was useless, mostly because (you can guess), AI was not helping at all.
Now, the Bible says — not that it “thinks” it knows better than me as to what I am looking for — I found the proofs that when put into practice, they have proven that it really, really offers real pragmatic help…
Allow me to interject here, to call anyone an idiot is not very Christian of me. but I think it means, “when directed at anybody else.” So, I think I can get away with it… at least this time…
Of course, two days later, I realized I needed help from someone who was an actual Tech. Fortunately, I found two who were extremely patient. So, I hope they were getting paid by the hour. I surrendered control of my computer to them, and I think after two or three questions they had narrowed the problem down to the malware called a trojan horse. They sped along like it was a walk in the park — only interrupted by my squirrely attempts to follow their directions…
Pathetic.
However, I tried to excuse myself and slowness, saying that I am old, blind in one eye and losing sight in the other, which is true, maybe playing on their sympathies, because I was worried they’d hang up.
Oh! I was growing so frustrated with myself. Yet, they hung in and gave me a reason to believe.
So, after a couple of hours, I started to settle down, refocusing on what they were telling me to do. I saw that there was going to be a favorable solution to my problem. The end was near, and I began to have faith.
Regardless, today, as you can see, I’m at my writings again. They saved me, in that Tech sort of way.
Looking back, there are some parallels to the Bible and the Gospel, but I’ll spare you… for a few seconds…
You see, I had this learning experience… I had an online FB penpal once, but she ditched me, because she rightly claimed that “whatever I started talking about, I would always end up talking about Jesus.” I eventually saw that I am an idiot in more ways than Tech… social interaction, for one.
Anyways… I’ll warn you ahead of time, I intend to end there again.
Now, I’ve been around the block a few times, but that doesn’t make me a wise old guru sitting on top of a high mountain, glowing in the dark… You have to think for yourselves, or somebody is going to do your thinking for you.
As I hinted, a true Bible Believing Christian who actually reads the Bible, the parallels are obvious, and they will see clearly that God allows bad things to happen to us to help us exercise our faith in developing our perseverance muscles, patience being one. That will enable us to get through the more severe ups and downs of this life.
Life, even as a Born Again Christian is a marathon, not a sprint. It is not a form of escapism, as some say, It is a real “meat and potatoes” method with Jesus sticking it out with you while you learn how to be patient and endure and how God intends to develop you into being an overcomer and win this steeplechase kind of life.
I emphasize this, because there is what I call the “Happy Happy Gospel” proliferating throughout American culture, promising wealth and a home on Easy Street — Just send them $1,000 “seed money” and your troubles will be over! Maybe their troubles will be over but not us regular folk… those false preachers don’t really believe that there will be a reckoning, that the hammer is going to come down — maybe sooner than anyone thinks.)
Well, if any reader wants to learn how to run the Gospel Marathon, everything has a beginning. Before approaching the starting line, one has to find the proper Coach. Without a good Coach, you won;t have much success. Deciding to see this race through, one also needs to be committed to the challenge. The Bible way for these steps is to start by first reaching out and talking to Jesus.
I first tried talking at God by demanding answers, but in the end, that isn’t exactly the best way to find a coach who will agree to train you, is it?
You’ll be amazed at what the right Coach can do for you. This process is like a Football Scout looking for athletes who want to play for their Team.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. — Revelation 3:20, New Living Translation. So, here is a Coach looking for people who want to run the race successfully — this Race of Life.
Reach out to Jesus, because He’s reaching out for you.
