Yes. Mankind was created in the image of God, but it is what happens after that that propelled Mankind into a completely opposing nature and a different path, even a different reality in which our character was not so good. This is why it is stressed in the New Testament that "all have sinned" and 1 Corinthians 6:11. So that God has always planned to ofer Mankind redemption from the sorry state we have created for ourselves. (Now, I could raise the question about what does the "image of God" mean exactly, as in this article: "We now know that the Hebrew word tselem (“image”) is actually something concrete. It refers to a statue or an idol in a temple. What I think might be a help to our discussion is a word study in the several Greek words translated into English only as "love," starting with eros.
