You can't eat gold, bitcoin, or anything except food. Food cannot be stored forever or in such a quantity to survive until death do us part. Any form of money is merely a form of exchange not really any different than the barter system. No matter how you shuffle your "money" around, it remains dots and dashes out in the digital beyond.
