Your essay covers more than I have thought to write and thanks for those completely correct precepts. What I have thought writing about has been to explain the hand gestures that are seen in some worship services. (I cannot see their thoughts, but I have some ideas that I hope are not presumptuois.)
What I understand in being children of God, we respond to Him as children do with their parents or grandparents... They run to us with open arms. People, in general, will raise a hand for several reasons - like in a greeting a friend, or in asking a question, or to get another person's attention... in reaching out palm upwards, is showing a willingness to receive, perhaps, a weighty load... hands held high are asking, "Please pick me up and give me a big hug, Grampa!"
Anyways, our interactions, conversations, and all are like you pointed out, a spontaneous and personal interaction with our God, our Savior and the interceding Holy Spirit... not by rote, not by dictum, heither by some formal construct, or any overseer, or by any personother than ourselve.
At any rate, everyone should be reaching out to God, physically, mentally.or inwardly from the inner self.
